Diane mentions the divorce papers but gets interrupted by the waitress, an excitable pug lady named Pickles, who gets along with Mr. Peanutbutter. Mr. Peanutbutter and a few crew members then pull BoJack off of her. The two eventually started dating, and by 2009 Diane moved in with him. Either Diane refused to take Mr Peanutbutter's money because she wants to be independent and would see it as a sign of weakness or she wanted to be able to maintain a good relationship with him afterwards and felt that if he had to send her a check every month, that wasn't going to happen.
